This march comes from von Suppe's operetta Boccaccio. Premiered in 1879, this operetta is still performed today and has been staged by some of the greatest opera companies in the world including the New York Metropolitan Opera. The story of the opera revolves around the life and love of Renaissance poet Giovanni Boccaccio.
March for BOCCACCIO is great way to introduce your students to music of the Romantic Period. This march serves well in concert or contest.
